Time flys!

I can't believe it has been over a month since I last posted! Shame on me!

I have been getting ready for this years craft fairs. Not only did I have to stock up on my soaps, but I need to make beads and jewelry.
The picture up top is of my latest craft fair Garden of Art. I love this show. The selection of artists was fabulous! Not to many of one kind. There was pottery, glass fusing (belts, some jewelry), hair bows, kid toys, hand made purses, painting, knitting shop (they taught and I learned to make a scarf....yep I am going nuts making them!), jewelry (gems and stones), lotions and scrubs (not mine), my soaps and my lampwork beads, jewelry and other items. Monsters (which I traded for one), fabulous 1920 hair pieces, children dresses.....you get the picture.

I did make fresh batch of Milk bath and Bath bombs. They have been a huge hit and smell wonderful.

Mainly I just had to label and price everything. This is probably my least favorite thing to do. I would rather wash my dishes or do laundry. LOL

New Addition! Handmade Washcloths

I have been making these for awhile and finally got around to taking photos and posting them.

They are made out of 100% cotton.

I have the Shower Puff.... no more plastic ones. when they are dirty just throw them in the washer and dry them. (As always make sure to wash them in alike colors! :)- no pink socks! )

For those that like just a little more pampering, you can use the Flower Shower Puff (kids came up with that name and it stuck!) Works that same as a bath puff.

And of course we have the washcloths and small face clothes. I sure hope you all know the use for these. :)

You can purchase these single or in sets.

Glass Soap

Here is another chance to win a free bar of soap! Come vote on your favorite soap and be entered into the contest!!

http://etsysafeteam.blogspot.com

Why Glass?? I am a glass artist. I live and breath for my glass. It is my second love, my passion. The world just disappears when I light up my torch. I love brilliant colors and how paired with other colors they play off of each other. I selected my favorite color scheme at the moment (It changes as often as my moods!)..... purple and green.

The polka dots represents my "bubbly personality" quote from friends and family.
The black and white swirls on the back represents how I would like to see things. It is or it is not. However much to my demise, there are some gray areas no matter how hard you strive to eliminate them.

As for my gardening, I love flowers, so I decided to go with one of my favorite scents. Soothing lavender, jasmine and vanilla.

Anise Soap The Fishermans Friend

If you love the scent of black licorice, then this is the soap for you! Made with wonderful skin loving gost's milk and shea butter.

Anise oil is known for attracting fish! Many fisherman actually rub anise oil on their lures to improve their fish catching productivity!! (Make sure to check with you local regulations!)

Scent travels a long way in the water. Reach over the side of the boat, wash your hands with this natural soap, and you just may catch more fish! It just might give you the edge you need when the fish are being finicky.

Here is a tip from a fisherman. Moisten your fingers and run them over Anise Soap The Fishermans Friend soap. Then rub you fingers over your lure. The scent of the anise oil stays with the lure and you'll get should get more hits!

Scent is a delicious Strawberry Kiwi.

To add a little sparkle I add a body safe mica for sparkle.

Toy is NOT intended for Children under 3 years old.

Gift baskets

I finally put my gift baskets together!! Just in time for Mother's day! The a stuffed full of wonderful goodies for you skin.

Each basket contains:
4 soaps (each one is different, shaving soaps, massage soaps, luxury soaps....)
2 washcloths (one regular size and one facial mini)
2 lip balms
1 milk bath

The total items are over a $25 value (closer to $30)

I just love how the baskets turned out! not only are the full of pampering items, but they come in a beautiful gift basket. I found these little purse like baskets, but they weren't so cute.... nope they had the foamy strange flower thingys on the front. Pretty tacky, however I could see that they had potential.... I love how each basket is lined with material (that it what caught my eye). I bought them and ripped the thingys off, added my own embellishments and as you can see, they are now beautiful!

There is a little room in each basket, you can add more items (soaps, tea baths, flower shower puffs, jewelry, etc....) to them if you would like. Since they are being shipped in a flat rate box, there is room for more items in the box....I will refund any shipping on the other items.

Natural Laundry soap

My Natural Laundry Soap is safe for your family & the environment.
One tablespoon cleans a super size load.!!!!(Very soiled clothes may take 2 tablespoons)
Here are some more reasons to use Natural Laundry Soap:
✻100% ALL natural ingredients
✻No Petroleum based cleaning agents
✻Completely biodegradable, so it's not harmful to plumbing, septic tanks, or the natural environment.
✻Works great in any temperature
✻You do not need to add fabric softeners- clothes are soft without it and smell wonderful! (I recommend not to, synthetic fabric softener leave behind a build up which reduces the water absorbency of textiles.)
✻Great for all skin types
✻Universal cleaner- You can use this to wash you dishes, floors and walls.

Laundry Tip:
If you have hard water or find that you do need to add a little fabric softener try Vinegar. Not only is it a cheap alternative to commercial fabric softener, but it is not harmful to the environment and your laundry will come out soft and cling-free.

Did You Know?
Commercial fabric softener builds up on your towels over time, making them less absorbent.

How:
Adding 1/2 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle of your washing machine Vinegar works naturally to soften your laundry and has the added benefit of breaking down laundry detergent very effectively. This added benefit means less detergent sensitive allergies for families that struggle with sensitive skin. Don't be put off by the fragrance of vinegar. The odor disappears when vinegar dries. So go ahead and try a bottle of vinegar in place of your laundry softener.

Want to stretch out your natural soap? Get more for your money? Try turning your powder laundry soap to liquid laundry soap! It takes little work and practice, but once you have done it successfully, you will want to continue making it.

1 cup of my natural laundry soap
1 gallon of distilled water (16 c per gallon)
Large pot
Add 1 gallon of distilled water to large pot, mix in the 1 c soap. Do not use a wood spoon unless you are going to dedicate it to laundry soap making. Stainless steel is a better alternative. Heat water and soap mixture to almost boiling. DO NOT boil! It will foam right over the top of the pan. Heat until ALL of the soap is dissolved. Let cool to a warm temperature. Pour back into the distilled gallon. every few hours shake the container to mix the soap up. Let sit over night. You may see little lumps, this it normal and will work just fine in the washer. Shake the soap before each uses to mix the soap.
1/2 c per load= 32 loads per gallon and 64 loads per laundry soap bag!
You can double the loads for your money!

My little Plum tree

Last year for Mother's day my children gave me 3 fruit trees. This year they are blooming! I armed myself with my faithful 7 yr old camera and stepped out in the sunshine (about time!). A few clicks and I capture my plum trees little blossoms. These are just a few of what I took. I am thinking of making a set of cards and one of my Asian Plum soaps in a little gift basket for gifts.......

Asian Plum

~Asian Plum~A harmonious blend of Plum, Orchid, Daffodil, Jasmine, Musk and Vanilla
This is a fabulous scent. Hint of spice and sweetness. One of my personal favorites!
I love making layered soaps, however with using natural soap, it can be a little tricky. Sometimes the layers do not want to adhere together! I lucked out and it turn out great!!
Would be a great gift for a wonderful mom. :)

Where is Spring??

Normally I post about my soaps...but OMG! This morning I woke up and went outside to go to the Gym at 5am (yes crazy but so worth it!) and there was Snow...3 inches!
My poor tree that I have babied for the last 7 years was so covered that I have to take my broom hit some of the snow out. I was afraid that the weight of the snow would break the branches.
So this weekend we are to have warm weather again and be back into the high 60's and low 70's! Cold city here we come...... :(
I am going to spend my day making goats milk soap and linen spray. Drinking my HOT coffee and wishing for warmer weather!

They are finally here! New flavors for lip balms....

As a lip balm connoisseur, I am always looking to add to my ever growing list of flavors..... 19 options!

NEW FLAVORS
Pina colada
Cherry Limeade
Strawberry
Ginger Peach
Pomegranate
Chocolate Mint
Cherry Vanilla

ORGINAL FLAVORS
Lavender Vanilla
Honey Bee
Coconut Lime ~Contains Lime
Coconut
Grapefruit~ Contains Grapefruit EO
Citrus~ Contains Grapefruit, Orange and Lime EO
Natural ~hint of honey scent due to the natural beeswax
Peppermint ~contains Peppermint EO
Spearmint
Orange
Vanilla Orange
French Vanilla

My lip balms are not made from a purchased based. Instead I have developed a all natural base from scratch. It contains bees wax from local bee keepers. (Try to support my local community as much as possible), cocoa butter, shea butter, sweet almond oil, olive oil, vitamin E~all those skin/lip loving ingredients!

I had to revamp my labels, they are now waterproof! They are also unisex....my husband was not very excited to carry around a "girly" lip balm. So we came up with a simple but classic look that should appeal to all. I need to retake my photo....it is a little "girly". :)

Wonderful Skin loving Goats milk and Shea Butter soaps

Wonderful Skin loving Goats milk and Shea Butter soaps! I LOVE goat’s milk soap!!!

My soap is made from goats milk, not the store stuff either…straight from a farm. I rebatch the goat’s milk soap and add all kinds of wonderful ingredients. It has a wonderful lather and is very gentle for all skin types. I have used this soap on my infants and highly recommend.. Now please remember that soap is soap and it does burn if it gets in your eyes.

It has a natural earthy/nutty scent to it. I use scents that blend with this scent. It natural color varies from a light tan to a medium brown. In the beginning I tried to add colors to my soap, well let’s just say they were not really pretty! So I now just work with its natural color, letting its natural beauty come through.

Here are the 3 new goat’s milk soaps in my shop.

Safe Team Contest Entry! Elements~ Natural Soap

Elements ~ Natural soap is entered into the Safe Teams Soap contest "Soaps from around the World" The country I selected for my entry theme is China.

I have always been fascinated by the colors in used by artist in China. Very vivid and without even studying their culture you get the feeling that color was and still is very important to their everyday life.

Traditional Chinese physics taught that the five elements are water, fire, wood, metal and earth. They correspond to black, red, blue-green, white and yellow, respectively. I used these colors, some are bold in the soap, while others blend and mingle; representing how the elements are intertwined and yet distinct.

The scent I selected is Asian Plum: A harmonious blend of Plum, Orchid, Daffodil, Jasmine, Musk and Vanilla

National emblem of China is the plum blossom. It is the only flower that blossoms in peak winter season. Even with the snow on the ground, it is the only flower in this season to survive. As a result, the flower has become the symbol of survival.

WISH ME LUCK!! :)

To vote and see other listings for the rest of the safe team please visit . Contest starts Tomorrow 3/31 http://www.etsysafeteam.blogspot.com/

Starlight Natural Soap

I just listed this beautiful soap.

I used a scent that reminds me of my childhood summer nights. We loved to star gaze~ looking for falling stars and satellites. The fresh smell of summer and earth lingering in the background. I opened the scent bottle and just fell in love with this scent. Great for both men and women.

The design of this soap was created by first curling soap (cutting very thin strips of soap that curl as you cut) layering the soap in your mold (I prefer loaf style~ cutting the soap shows off the curls). The last step is to pour the colored soap over the curls. If you pour to hot, the curls will melt and make a blurred effect.

The blue color I used did not turn out as dark as I was going for, however, as soap tends to surprise us sometime....It turned out very well.

Finally a name for this soap!

I needed a fabulous name for this soap...

Is it spring yet??

I love to garden and yes I am counting the days (55 days!) before I can plant my garden again! And this year, I get to enjoy my yard a lot more! My littlest is 1 1/2!

I will be getting very dirt hands from all my planting and tending to my garden! I hate garden gloves! I have to be able to feel what I am doing. So my solution for my dirty hands is the Garden soap!

It has Coffee and ground Apricot seeds to help remove the stubborn dirt from our hands. It is sent with orange and lemon grass. You can of course smell the coffee. Very fresh clean scent!
A must have for a gardener!

Coconut Lime

I LOVE this photo! Oh and the smell of this soap is so yummy! Makes your mouth water smelling it! Definitely one of my best sellers!

I really enjoy photographing my items I sell. Love to try to capture their beauty and uniqueness. I do worry sometimes that people will see my photos and when their items comes....minus all the background items I use, they are disappointed.... Hopefully they are revived when they use it! :)

I have been asked many times what photo program do I use, lighting equipment and my techniques. What I have is very simple.....
  • I have an older digital camera~ 7 yrs old I have it on a high resolution and a setting that allows close ups
  • I use a dinner plate for the white back ground or a card stock paper
  • Background items are items found in my house
  • as for lighting.....good old sun! Morning or later after noon are my favorite.
  • As for the black background, it is the angle you take the photo into the light. I have a darker sage green in a room and with the afternoon sunlight, it creates a black/dark background.
  • I use Picasa. I am able to add a little light, sharpen details and crop if needed. I always keep the colors true to my items.

Pretty simple....just takes a lot of photos to get the right ones. Sometimes I have to take up to 20 to get the right shot.

Exotic Natural Soap

I received my new supplies this week and I had ordered some new skin safe dyes. One was to be red and well as you can see....it really did not turn out to be red! Still the soap came out very beautiful, but just not how I planned it.
It looks like exotic marble. I decided that by its appearance and the scent I used that "Exotic" would be its name.

Scent:
An exotic, sensuous layering scent of Amber, Myrrh, Sandalwood and Patchouli. A great scent for both men and women. Also known as “Dragon’s Blood”

Listing is for 1 (one) bar and weighs approximately 5 oz.

This is scent is one of my favorites!

New Products

The cold dry weather has really been playing havoc on my skin! I decided to put my knowledge to use and create a facial scrub that does not dry out my skin or leaves it to oily.

Introducing.......

Apricot Scrub

A perfect blend of Rose, Lavender and Sandalwood~very soft, romantic scent.

Leaves your skin soft and clean.

Just listed!

Lavender Fields Super Shea and Olive Oil

A soft, smooth scent of Lavender. I love this scent! I am a lavender nut and this one it right on! It is like walking through a field of lavender. The lavender buds I used are from my mother's garden. I have been dying to put them to use!

This is a great soap for the winter time. It is full of Shea Butter and Olive oil! Both are great on dry skin.

It is thought that Shea Butter protects skin against weather & aging.

It is said that Olive oil benefits are many and varied, for this reason people of the Mediterranean have been using it for thousands of years. Because of its emollient effect and nutrients olive oil softens, moisturizes, and conditions the skin.

Bars are about 5 oz
